Ash unloading system modification
March 2013 to May 2013 Members:Alaa Noori
The unloading system was only a silo that has a opening under it to drop the fly ash to the track, which cause the fly ash to distribute every where fly by the surrounding air. The modification is a system that connect the silo directly to the track so that, 99.99% of the ash will stay inside the track. the modification was simple, and sheep. It cost only about 2000 USD, and it is easy so that, it can be installed by only one operator, and can be fixed if has any problem by only tow technician.
Modify the stop log seal from expensive P-shap seal to cheap and available at market seal
September 2011 to December 2011 Members:Alaa Noori
The intake area at the steam power plant has a big gate for water to go to the circulating water pump. this gate has a removable doors, which called “Stop Log”. the Stop Log has a seal surrounding it, so that it stop the water flow around it while dewatering at the side of the pump. this seal is mostly at most of power plant is P-shap seal, which when need to be replaced, it need to be manufactured specially for the designed size, so its cost will be high. At our power plant case, the manufacturer requests about 25000USD for manufacturing it for 3 Stop Logs, while I succeeded to modify it by a normal seal from the market, and it works properly for years, and cost only 1500USD.
